Xcape Dance Company
A 501c3 Non Profit Organization Established in 2014
Xcape Dance Company:
Oregon's only professional Dance Company specializing in street styles of dance. Our professional dance company is made up of 15 members who perform, teach, and work within our training facility, mentoring and instructing youth in our community. Xcape prides itself on building a pathway for young artists to reach their career aspirations in dance and performing arts, focusing on movement styles that are often neglected in our communities.
WE ARE MORE THAN DANCE:
Xcape is also a community driven organization that strives to provide support and programming to BIPOC and marginalized youth in the community who wish to be involved in an inclusive and progressive space centered around art.
For our youth, Xcape provides almost 50 movement classes weekly with roots based in street styles open to youth ages 2 and up, monthly events that center around the BIPOC youth community that include movement, meditation and healing arts, Black Movie Nights, mentorship in performing arts careers, leadership provided by Strong Black Leaders in this community and beyond, performance opportunities, after school dance and arts programs, and scholarship programs to keep youth moving and growing through dance and performing arts.
For our Parents, we are the community hub for BIPOC centered programs to host and facilitate parenting support classes and education, parent and child music and movement classes and support services, and community gatherings for parents/ families in need of support.
As a community space, Xcape provides space for Diversity and Inclusion workshops, BIPOC Yoga and movement classes, gathering space for Black Professionals meet ups, host of BIPOC Young Entrepreneurs Festival, community youth dance party nights, Free/ discounted space for BIPOC community members to present classes and events, and a space that has the representation and inclusion built within its core to provide a truly safe environment for art, creativity, and self expression to thrive. Andrea Smith and Vanessa Fuller are also the founders of the Official Eugene Juneteenth Celebration which is fiscally sponsored by Xcape Dance Company.
XCAPE DANCE COMPANY is funded by grants, local business, donations from our wonderful community members, and from families within our programs that help to keep us alive and creating movement.
